Three Apples A Day...

My Mom, my sister and I were at the supermarket the other day to buy some groceries. I remember my sister grabbing like a dozen apples to my Mom’s surprise (and me as well). My Mom doesn’t mind but she was curious so she asked my sister what the apples are for. My sister just gave us her sweetest smile and said, “You’ll see”. My Mom and I looked at each other and both said “Teenagers!”
When we got home though, I realized my sister is trying to do something she’s never done before – lose weight. I must admit, she’s way too overweight for her age and height and she’ll definitely look better if she shed off those bulging fats.
Where did the apples fit in the story?
Well, I found out sooner than later that my sister wanted to do the Apple Diet. If you’ve never heard about it before, count me in. That was the first time I’ve heard about it as well. So what is this Apple Diet all about? Simple! My sister said she only needs to consume at least three apples a day – one apple each time. She said it’s no brainer actually. She can consume eat before a meal or consume it as a regular snack.
Well, for a snack, I know an apple is a great alternative to chips because it is very healthy but I don’t really dig the “apple every before meal” idea. My sister started talking about a substance called “pectin”. She said apple have this substance which makes our tummy feel full for a longer period. Therefore, if we eat apple before a meal, we end up eating less than we usually do since we’re still full. Hmm, great analysis I have to admit.
And since apples don’t have many calories as well, it will not really do you bad to eat as much as you can everyday. Now that sounds interesting. I don’t mind eating something as yummy as an apple to lose weight fast!
So it’s not “An apple a day...” anymore huh! More like “Three apples a day...” Happy munching!
