Love the Babies, Hate the Pregnancies!

I hate being pregnant. I don't just mildly dislike the experience, I genuinely hate everything about it. This was a problem for me, as I wanted a large family and ultimately went through a whopping total of 72 months of pregnancy. That's right: I have 8 children. There is nothing to promote pregnancy except the truly wonderful and mind-blowing reward of holding a brand new life at the end of it. I never gained less than 50 pounds, I spent at least half of every pregnancy with extremely swollen ankles, and really, just how sexy DO you feel when every part of you seems so grotesquely misshapen? Well, at least we can buy maternity lingerie these days! I craved heavily spiced for the duration of every pregnancy, and, while I never once suffered from morning sickness, I wanted to eat every minute that I was awake. The curl went out of my naturally curly hair, I couldn't sleep comfortably in any position, I took up snoring, my hair got brittle and fell out, I developed gestational diabetes and ultimately killed my thyroid gland. But for all of the ways I hated being pregnant, I more than loved the results: my brilliant, charming, beautiful and perfect children, the youngest of whom is turning sweet sixteen this summer. Would I do it all again? You bet!
